Ground School Training

At DAHA – Delhi’s Leading Pilot Training Academy, our Ground School is designed to build a strong foundation for aspiring commercial pilots. The training is conducted over an average duration of 4-6 months and follows a blended learning approach that combines expert-led classroom sessions with modern digital learning tools. All subjects are taught in accordance with the DGCA (Directorate General of Civil Aviation) syllabus, and the course is structured to prepare students not just to pass exams but to understand aviation in depth.
Subjects Covered:

  • Air Regulation
  • Aviation Meteorology
  • Air Navigation
  • Aircraft Technical General & Technical Specific
  • Radio Telephony (RTR)

These subjects are critical for clearing DGCA exams and preparing for real-world aviation scenarios. Our classroom sessions are interactive, well-structured, and reinforced through regular mock tests, doubt sessions, and performance tracking.

Air Regulation

This subject covers the legal framework that governs aviation operations. You will learn about international and national aviation laws, airspace classification, aircraft registration, and licensing requirements. Understanding these regulations is crucial for ensuring flight safety, compliance, and coordination with aviation authorities. It forms the backbone of all pilot responsibilities.

Aviation Meteorology

Aviation Meteorology teaches you to interpret weather data and forecasts critical to flight planning and safety. You’ll study atmospheric conditions, weather systems, turbulence, cloud formations, and how various weather phenomena affect aircraft performance. This knowledge helps pilots make informed decisions to avoid hazardous weather and ensure safe flying.

Air Navigation

Air navigation, including the use of aeronautical charts, instruments and navigation aids; an understanding of the principles and characteristics of appropriate navigation systems; operation of airborne equipment; practical aspects of air navigation and dead reckoning techniques. Practical air navigation using radio navigation aids. Use, accuracy and reliability of navigation systems used in departure en-route, approach and landing phases of flight; identification of radio navigation aids.

Technical General & Specific

This subject provides comprehensive knowledge of aircraft structure and systems. You will study engines, electrical systems, hydraulics, instruments, and aerodynamics. Understanding these technical details enables pilots to operate aircraft safely and effectively, recognize technical issues, and communicate efficiently with maintenance crews.

Radio Telephony (RTR A)

Radio Telephony covers effective communication between pilots and air traffic controllers using aviation-specific protocols. You will learn standard phraseology, procedures for clear and concise communication, emergency communication, and how to handle radio equipment. Strong radio skills are essential for maintaining situational awareness and ensuring coordinated airspace management.

Flying Training Cost: India vs Abroad

One of the key factors students must consider is the cost of flight training:

  • In India: ₹38 lakhs to ₹52 lakhs (approx.)

  • Abroad (USA, South Africa, New Zealand, etc.): ₹38 lakhs to ₹58 lakhs (approx.)

At DAHA, we guide our students through both domestic and international flying options, helping them choose the best-suited path based on quality, budget, and career goals. Our team works closely with top flying schools to ensure a smooth and transparent admission process.

FAQs About CPL Training In India

Have questions about becoming a commercial pilot training? We’ve answered the most common queries to help you make an informed decision.

A CPL is a professional license that allows you to work as a commercial pilot and get paid for flying aircraft. It’s the minimum qualification needed to fly for airlines, charter services, or corporate aviation.

You must be at least 17 years old, have completed 10+2 with Physics and Mathematics, and be medically fit under DGCA Class 1 medical standards.

The complete CPL training process typically takes 12–18 months, including 4 months of ground school and 200 hours of flying training.

Both options are valid. Flying training abroad (e.g., USA, South Africa, New Zealand) may offer faster timelines and better flying conditions. However, India has many reputed DGCA-approved schools as well. DAHA helps students choose the best fit based on budget and goals.

CPL ground classes cover essential theoretical subjects like Air Regulation, Meteorology, Navigation, Aircraft Technical, and Radio Telephony. These are required to clear DGCA exams before starting or completing flight training.

After completing CPL, you can apply for roles in airlines, charter companies, cargo operators, corporate aviation, or government agencies. You can also pursue further training like ATPL or Type Rating to enhance your job prospects.
